Common use

Nocdurna (desmopressin) is prescribed for adults who experience frequent nighttime urination. It works by mimicking the action of the antidiuretic hormone vasopressin, which reduces urine production at night, helping improve sleep and quality of life.

Dosage and direction

Nocdurna is taken orally, usually once daily before bedtime. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water. Dosage is individualized based on age, kidney function, and response to treatment. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions carefully.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, heart disease, low blood sodium levels, or a history of hyponatremia. Limit fluid intake starting one hour before taking the tablet and until the next morning to reduce the risk of water retention and low sodium. Monitor for signs of dizziness, headache, or swelling.

Contraindications

Do not use Nocdurna if you are allergic to desmopressin or any component of the tablet. It is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney impairment, hyponatremia, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or active urinary tract obstruction.

Possible side effect

Common side effects include headache, nausea, mild abdominal pain, and swelling. Serious side effects may include severe hyponatremia, seizures, confusion, rapid weight gain, or low blood pressure. Seek immediate medical attention if severe symptoms occur.

Drug interaction

Nocdurna may interact with diuretics, corticosteroids, carbamazepine, or other medications affecting sodium or fluid balance. Inform your doctor about all prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, and supplements you are taking.

Missed dose

If a dose is missed, skip it and continue with your usual schedule the next night. Do not double the dose.

Overdose

Overdose may cause water retention, severe hyponatremia, headache, confusion, or seizures. Seek immediate medical attention if overdose is suspected.

Storage

Store Nocdurna at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep tablets in their original container and out of reach of children.
