Common use
Acular is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used as an eye drop to relieve pain and inflammation in the eyes, particularly after eye surgery or in conditions like conjunctivitis. The active ingredient, Ketorolac, works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body that cause inflammation and pain.

Dosage and direction
Acular is usually applied as 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) up to four times a day. The dosage and frequency may vary depending on your condition and your doctor’s recommendation. Make sure to wash your hands before and after using the eye drops, and avoid touching the tip of the dropper to any surface to prevent contamination.

Precautions
Before using Acular, inform your doctor if you have a history of eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, or corneal ulcers. Ketorolac may cause blurred vision or temporary discomfort after application, so avoid activities that require clear vision until you are sure how it affects you. Contact lenses should be removed before using the eye drops.

Contraindications
Acular should not be used in individuals who are allergic to Ketorolac, other NSAIDs, or any other ingredients in the product. It is contraindicated in patients with active eye infections or those with a history of severe allergic reactions to NSAIDs.

Possible side effect
Common side effects include eye irritation, burning or stinging upon application, and dry eyes. Some individuals may also experience blurred vision, headache, or sensitivity to light. Rare, but serious side effects may include eye infections or damage to the cornea, especially with prolonged use.

Drug interaction
Acular may interact with other topical eye medications, as well as oral NSAIDs or blood thinners. Inform your healthcare provider about all other medications you are using, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, as well as any other eye treatments.

Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Acular, use it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next dose. Do not apply extra drops to make up for a missed dose.

Overdose
An overdose of Acular is unlikely due to its localized use. However, if accidental ingestion occurs, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms may include stomach upset, nausea, or dizziness.

Storage
Store Acular at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children. Do not use the eye drops if they are past their expiration date.
